Longer is not a specification, it is fewer strokes
Our standard zester is 13 inches and weighs 0.15 lb. This one is 14.96 inches and 0.2 lb. In the hand that reads as a longer pass and a blade that stays put under pressure — the difference between grating a wedge of parmesan and grating enough for a lasagne for six.
The blade is the same, the job is bigger
Fine teeth, so zest comes off above the bitter pith and hard cheese comes off in ribbons that melt on contact rather than granules that sit on top. Nothing about the cut changes; what changes is how long you can keep going.
Rigid, because that is what fails first
A thin sheet of steel flexes under a block of hard cheese, and a blade that flexes skips. The sides are curved along their length, which stiffens the whole body. That is also why this one can take more force than a lighter grater without complaining.
Cleaning
The teeth don’t pack with cheese, so it rinses under the tap instead of needing a brush. Dishwasher safe, and the cover snaps on for the drawer.
Not the right tool if…
You only ever zest a lemon. Then the standard Citrus Zester is shorter, lighter and cheaper, and does exactly the same cut. This one earns the difference when you grate in quantity.
Registered, it carries our lifetime warranty. Two minutes, and it’s ours to replace.
