Deiss LUX Wine Opener

Wing corkscrews fail at the hinge, and they fail with the bottle open in front of guests.

This one has no plastic in the body, the rivets or the arms — it is metal through, so the arms don’t splay and the hinge doesn’t give. Matte silver, in a velvet pouch.

  • All-metal build: no plastic body, rivets or inserts
  • Stainless steel where the load is — the helix and the rivets
  • Balanced, so both arms come down evenly
  • Velvet pouch — it survives a drawer and it gives well
  • Lifetime warranty, registered in two minutes

The failure is always the same

A wing corkscrew does its work through two arms and the joints that hold them. Make those of plastic, or metal arms on plastic rivets, and the first genuinely tight cork spreads them. The arm goes loose, the helix comes out at an angle, and the cork breaks. This one is metal at the body, the arms and the rivets, with stainless steel at the two points that take the load — the rivets and the helix itself.

Why winged, and not a waiter’s friend

A waiter’s corkscrew is faster in a trained hand and awkward in everyone else’s. The winged design turns pulling into pressing: you brace on the lip of the bottle, push both arms down, and the cork comes up without you hauling on it. It is the opener you hand to someone else at the table without explaining it.

It is also a gift, and it looks like one

Matte silver finish and a velvet pouch. That matters for two reasons: it survives a drawer without scratching, and it is presentable as it comes, without the wrapping being the best part.

Not the right tool if…

You open old bottles where the cork has gone soft and crumbly. Any helix will tear through those — that is what two-prong openers exist for. A wing corkscrew is for the corks in nearly every bottle sold today, including the synthetic ones.

Registered, it carries our lifetime warranty. Two minutes, and it’s ours to replace.

Deiss PRO Wing Corkscrew Wine Opener

$13.98
(0 Reviews)
A collar that stops the screw before it goes through the cork. Most broken corks are the screw driven too deep, punching out the bottom and losing its grip. The collar on this one sets the depth, so the helix stops where it should and lifts the whole cork.
  • Bottom collar sets the depth — fewer broken corks
  • Two-inch knob: the screw goes in with fingers, not force
  • Rubberised wings, comfortable to press down
  • Workable with weak hands or a poor grip
  • Lifetime warranty, registered in two minutes

Deiss PRO Wine Saver Vacuum Pump & 3 Date Marker

$10.98
(0 Reviews)
Wine doesn't go off. It oxidises — and you can pump the oxygen out. Stopper in, pump until it resists, done. An opened bottle keeps about a week instead of two days, which is the difference between having a glass and finishing the bottle to avoid wasting it.
  • Vacuum pump plus three reusable stoppers — three bottles at once
  • Dial on each stopper marks the day you opened it
  • Pump until you feel resistance; no gauge to read
  • Stoppers wash and go back in — nothing is consumed
  • Lifetime warranty, registered in two minutes
