The tips matter more than the grip
Non-stick coating is softer than most of the metal that gets used on it. One scrape with a steel edge and the pan starts to shed. Silicone holds a chicken thigh just as firmly and leaves the surface alone — which, over a couple of years, is the difference between buying a new pan and not.
Heat is the part people get wrong
The tips are rated to 484°F. A pan on a hot burner and a grill grate both sit inside that. A bed of live coals does not. Keep them to the cooking surface and they outlast the cookware.
Steel where the load is
The arms are stainless steel. Plastic tongs bow when you lift something heavy and the tips stop meeting; steel doesn’t. It also means they go in the dishwasher without warping.
In the drawer
A pull-lock holds them shut and flat, so they take the space of a spatula instead of wedging the drawer open.
Not the right tool if…
You reach into live coals. Silicone stops at 484°F and all-metal tongs take more. For anything on a pan, a grate or in an oven, these are the right ones.
