Two boards, two colours, one rule
Orange for fruit and vegetables, black for raw meat and fish. It is the simplest way to keep the two apart, and it survives a busy evening better than any intention to wash one board in between. The orange also hides what carrots and beetroot do to a pale surface.
Flexible is not flimsy
The board is built in layers: a soft core that gives, under a harder surface that resists the knife. The give is what lets you roll the board into a chute over the pan — and it is also why the board doesn’t blunt an edge the way glass or stone does.
The things you notice on the tenth use
A juice groove around both boards, so a steak resting on one doesn’t flood the counter. Five anti-slip strips underneath, so the board stays where you put it. A ruler printed along one edge, which sounds like a gimmick until the first time a recipe asks for half-inch cubes.
Light enough to actually use
40% lighter than a wooden board of the same size. That sounds like a specification until you have to lift one, loaded, with one hand — or fit both of them in a dishwasher, which you can.
Not the right tool if…
You break down bone-in cuts or work with a cleaver. That wants a thick wooden block that doesn’t move. These are prep boards: light, fast, two of them, and into the dishwasher afterwards.
