The bit everyone hates
The lid is cut, it drops into the tomatoes, and now you are getting it out with a fork. The guide wire here grips the lid as the cut finishes and holds it while you turn the knob to release it. You never touch the edge and nothing falls in.
Side-cut, not top-cut
This opener cuts the seam at the side rather than through the top. The lid separates whole and neither piece is left with a cut edge — safer to handle, safer in the bin, and the lid sits back on the can if you are keeping the rest.
The knob is oversized on purpose
It turns with the fingers rather than a closed fist, which is the difference between possible and impossible for anyone with arthritis or weak hands. Nothing has to be squeezed shut while you turn, and it works the same in either hand.
Which of our two openers
This one has the lid-lifting guide wire and a hanging hole. Our Hand Held Can Opener is the same smooth-edge cut with a bottle opener built into the handle, and comes in two colours. Both carry the same lifetime warranty.
Not the right tool if…
You open cans by the dozen daily — an electric opener is less work at that rate.
Registered, it carries our lifetime warranty. Two minutes, and it’s ours to replace.
